EMPI has over the years built a cherished bond with Simmons College, Boston, U.S.A. On 03 January 2010 Dr. Vipin Gupta, Professor in Strategy and Director International Outreach, Simmons College, USA accompanied by his students visited us at the EMPI campus. This annual ritual is an event eagerly awaited by students from both the Institutes. To begin with, after a traditional welcome and address by Mr. Gurnam Saran President EMPI our guests participated in an interactive session conducted by Shri S Regunathan, IAS (Retd.) ex Chief Secretary Delhi and Advisor to the National Knowledge Commission who spoke extensively on ‘Sustainable Development – The Case of Delhi’. He explained as to how Delhi has grown into an international city through sustainable development and efforts made by its government and people through the Bhagidari system. In the evening after a hot cup of tea, accompanied by pakoras and samosas the visitors were treated to a cultural extravaganza, which included a mix of Indian classical and folk music, Oddissi dance performance and some folk dances. Not to be left behind the visitors spontaneously broke into a jig to the accompaniment of some foot tapping Bhangra numbers. They also got a glimpse of the most adored winter festival of Northern India, Lohri which is only a few days away. Before parting they were all presented with mementos by Ms. Abira Saran on behalf of the EMPI fraternity.
